I really like the way furniture was designed back in the 1950′s. Mid-Century modern is definitely one of my first choices for a sleek stylish interior design scheme, and here is a cool sleeper sofa that really takes me back to that great period in modern furniture design. The “Slaapbank” sofa from Martin Visser is so simple and that is the best part. With the seat extended out the sofa converts to a twin size bed available in fabric, leather, or customers own material for a custom appearance. 75.6″w 32.3-39.4″d 27.6″h Available from leathersofa.com

The Karuselli rocking chair with optional ottoman relies on the pivot point under the arm to do its rocking. Therefore swiveling is still an option thanks to a center post base which supports a rather stylish seat shell made from white or black fiberglass. The Karuselli rocking and swiveling armchair designed Yrjö Kukkapuro in 1964 is made by Avarte of Finland and features a chromed steel spring and rubber dampers that connect the seat shell to base. china sofa.
Diysofa from Must Italia breaks away from the same old square boxy and boring sofa designs we have all seen for generations. I really like the way the body of this super leather sofa transitions into the rounded arms that accepts the curvature of the back rest to form a real designer look unlike anything I have seen. The Divano Rolls sofa shown here in black velvet with contrasting chrome base running the length of the seating surface is my idea of inspirational modern furniture design. 330x112x80 See more from Must Italia here.

You have to go all the way back to 1937 and the World’s Fair in Paris to remember when Alvar Aalto introduced his Tea Trolleys made from bent birch plywood, tile, and rattan. These Tea Trolleys feature the process of bent wood curved into loops that are strong and light which he used in much of his iconic furniture. Today Aalto’s trolleys are in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art where visitors can take part in his belief that “objects are made to be completed by the human mind.” Tea Trolley 900 features a birch frame in either natural lacquer or lacquered white with black or white ceramic tiles and rattan basket. 35.4″ w 25.6″ d 23.6″ h

We have reviewed some really cool sofa sleepers and convertible couches in the past few years and many of them are for the spare room to be hidden away as “guest only” furniture. The Scoop Round and Quad sofa sleeper beds from Saba Italia easily stay uniform and ready for nighttime thanks to a removable hook system. One side of the Scoop has fixed legs and one has lockable wheels so lifting is not necessary, just reposition and get ready for bed. Designer Guido Rosati made sure comfort was included with a wooden frame surrounded by several densities of polyurethane foam, velfodera, and polyester fibers. The entire collection of contemporary sofas from Saba Italia can be seen here.
